Not Yours To Give Away

Last week, I loaned a good chunk of my antique hat collection, several vintage purses and multiple scarves people had given me to a youth librarian at another branch doing a dress up program.

I sent them through the library's delivery system in a library crate very clearly labeled.

Today I was informed that these items had been donated to Goodwill.

Please, try to let people take care of these things themselves. I do donate to Goodwill, but not my relatives' antiques.

I hate this week.

Juliet? This is your blog, right? I realized I'd neglected to respond to a Facebook message (I got a little overwhelmed in those giddy early Facebook days), and then when I went to find you - horrors - you weren't there anymore. I'm sorry to be worthy of unfriending, but I would like to reconnect - or at least answer your questions.

Robin lives in NE Portland, and she's a property manager for Pacificorp. She's married to a Portlander, and they're expecting a wee one this summer. Maybe she'll come to your library!

I'm actually coming down there for a couple of days next week for a conference and to visit my sis. I'm sure I'll be back after they have their baby too, so perhaps we could meet for some multi-syllabic caffeinated beverages sometime. :)

As for me, I moved back to Seattle in '97 after stints in CA (college), DC, and MI (grad school). Married, two kids (girl, 6; boy, 4), living in an old house in the CD at the south end of Capitol Hill... not far from Meany, actually. I work at an environmental consulting firm that helps governments and businesses with resource conservation and sustainability. And I met Shelly through a Madison Valley parenting group, and I've been to her place. That's neat that you used to live there - it's a great spot.

Oh, and I'm so sorry to hear about your treasures being given away - that's terrible!

Best wishes,
Christy
